Chapter Chicks, are you ready?

It’s the first week of the month of May and that means this Thursday May 7 is Owls Nests’ first official Book Club meetup. This month we read The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon.

Accordingly, we flock together at The Nest (tee hee, sorry I could not resist) at 6.30 pm through 7.30 pm for wine and catch-up. BYO your own drinks. Our four hostesses will have simple nibblies on the table to help keep energy levels elevated.

7.30 thru 8.30 (and perhaps beyond) is oh so precious Bookchat time. Our proceedings will be opened with a brief Overview by Janet. Then, an introduction to our novel: the author and the protagonist, by Lorelle. Then the questions and discussions begin Owlet Chicks, ….. with favorite quotes from Patty and yours truly and possibly you too?

At the very end you can nominate a book by writing your recommendation on provided notecards, folding same in half and placing in the big bowl. One of our hostesses will choose three cards. We will read the blurbs together, reflected on the tv screen and, then vote on the next book for our June chat.

A final thought for your calendars — circle the first Thursday of each month as reserved evenings for Chapter Chicks @ the Nest. The format will be the same; three hostesses are sought as volunteers to help the selector of our book, whomever that might be, run the very next Owlet Chicks Bookclub meeting in June.

As Summer approaches, because we all get busy, we have decided to not meet in July officially, but its up to you if wish to swap recommendations for cool reads whilst sunning at the Pool or enjoying a game of Bocce or Mahjong.
